MEN'S MINISTRY

"Fellowship between men is an important component in spiritual formation and development. We grow in Christ by sharing together, praying together, opening God's word together, serving together, and enjoying various social activities together, as men."  Pastor Craig, Community Outreach Pastor and head of Men's Ministries.

What is important to me about this ministry?

I am a people person; I thrive best when I am with other people. I really look forward to spending time with the men at Sunnyside Nazarene Church. The friendships formed, and the support I have experienced from our time together in Men's Ministries is something that I regularly look forward to. It is often one of the high points of my week.

I enjoy just being one of the guys, and I am passionate about serving, giving back what I have received from the Lord, and the men in our group. Because of the bond of brotherhood and fellowship, it doesn't matter what walk of life we have come from, how long we have been walking with the Lord, or what we may be struggling with in our walk.

Everyone here has demonstrated God's love, encouraged and supported each other, and celebrated each victory, new spiritual insight, or deepening growth in Christ. We also have a lot of fun together - there is plenty of laughter and joy!

What is my vision for ministry this year?

Currently, we have a weekly gathering on Wednesdays for coffee & fellowship at 9:00am. We alternate between Elka Bee's Coffee House on Sunnyside Road in Happy Valley, and Crossroads Coffee Shop in Gladstone just off of I-205.

Then we have a monthly Men's Prayer Breakfast every second Saturday of the month, 9:00am, at the church. What I would like to add this year is: 1) A quarterly activity outside of the church at least 4 times a year (bowling, fishing, etc.); 2) Service project/s where we can help people in our church, or in our community.

How can someone be involved?

1) Come! We like to know you're interested in participating ahead of time, but it's perfectly fine if you just show up!

2) Volunteer to cook, help with set-up, take-down, or clean-up at our monthly breakfast;

3) Volunteer to coordinate, organize, and lead one of the quarterly activities;

4) Make us aware of needs either in the congregation, or in our community;

5) Volunteer to take a turn leading a devotional time at men's breakfast;

6) Volunteer to organize & coordinate our monthly breakfast; Share ideas that you think would add to Men's Ministries.

Is there an age limit?

We are generally open to any guy participating in Men's Ministries, but we do recommend High School age & up. If you want to bring your son, a young man you know, or invite a friend to come with you we are glad to have them attend. If you have any questions about this, or anything else about Men's Ministries, please contact the Men's Ministry leader!
